Jump in on the excitement: USSBA Indoor sign-up is now!

Participation fees for regular season and Championship outlined

The recently renamed Sun National Bank Center will host the USSBA Inaugural Indoor Championship on April 17th, 2009. Sign up now!

As interest in the exciting new US Scholastic Band Association Indoor venture gains momentum, the Association announces the complete fee structure for this year’s inaugural season. Available also is the link for official sign-ups for all units interested in participating in the 12-event regular season and Championships on April 17th in Trenton, N.J.

Colorguard and percussion units will have an Annual Membership fee of $195 which provides groups with unlimited performance opportunities at every regular season local USSBA event.  Schools with more than one unit will receive a discounted fee on multiple units, with the second and subsequent units paying $170 per group for their Annual Membership. Schools interested in participating in only one event due to schedule or travel conflicts will be charged a $100 fee per unit.

The only additional fee will be a $495 Registration fee for groups participating in the 2010 USSBA Indoor Championships on April 17th at the Sun National Bank Center outside Trenton, N.J.  This fee will apply to all units without a multiple unit discount extended.

“The buzz is increasing every day surrounding this inaugural season for USSBA Indoor,” said Sean King, Director of the USSBA.  “The amount of interest from all over the USSBA is more than we had expected and we’re now in a position to open up registrations and start filling up each event for our local hosts, as well as our Championships in April.”

All interested colorguard and percussion directors, band directors, designers, instructors and adjudicators are strongly encouraged to join us for the USSBA Indoor Kick-Off scheduled for Noon on Saturday, Dec. 5th at Immaculata HS in Somerville, N.J. Percussion Education Director Dennis DeLucia and Colorguard Education Director Beverly Brahan will lead members of the separate disciplines in discussions covering each portion of this new program.

The 2010 USSBA Indoor season will be for scholastic groups exclusively, however collegiate and independent units can participate in as many events as they would like for performance opportunities and recruiting.  Independent units who choose to become a USSBA Member by paying the Annual Membership fee will be entitled to participate in events and receive sheets and tapes but no scores.  Those independent units who would like to perform at select events without receiving adjudicator feedback will be able to perform free of charge.

Watch for more information on the top-notch judging panels and announcements regarding the classifications and criteria which will be used throughout the competitive season.  Most information will be posted before Dec. 5th and will be reviewed in its entirety during the Kick-Off event.

Questions regarding the inaugural USSBA Indoor season should be directed to Tim Gallagher at or Tara-Lee Bryant at, or by telephone at (610) 821-0345, Ext. 113 or 119, respectively.
