CADETS AUDIO! Sound clip from recent camp

Skilled brass players still encouraged to audition

Jan. 29 Camp Tubas

The Cadets Tuba Section rehearses during their camp last weekend. Below, snare drummers warm up.

Coming off a terrific late January camp, The Cadets are excited to share with alumni and fans an audio clip from the opening segment of their 2010 program. The piece -- Children’s Dance from Merry Mount -- is composed by Howard Hanson and arranged by Cadets Brass Arranger Jay Bocook, Percussion Arranger Colin McNutt and Front Ensemble Arrangers Iain Moyer and Ian Grom. While the full opener is more than three minutes, The Cadets invite you to sit back and enjoy a little pre-season drum corps teaser!

Children’s Dance from Merry Mount is just a small sampling of the fantastic music the newest generation of Cadets will take on this season. Also announced as part of the show repertoire are Procession of the Nobles composed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and School for Scandal by Samuel Barber. While the corps is three camps into its 76th season, there is still time for brass players to audition, according to Justin Heimbecker, Assistant Director of the Cadets.

“We are looking particularly for skilled trumpet players,” Heimbecker said. “But all brass players are welcome to contact the office for details concerning the Feb 19-21 camp.”
