Summer life with The Cadets includes volunteer needs

CDL drivers, Roadies, Food Service: Come Help Us Out!

Pat Croissant and Robin Bierschenk give so much of their time on The Cadets Food Truck. Can you lend a hand, too? Food Service volunteers are needed for Spring Training and on Summer Tour, along with CDL drivers and 'Roadies' to work props.

It’s truly heartening to discover how much people care for The Cadets. The recent response from alumni, family and fans to volunteer this summer has been amazing, said Assistant Director Justin Heimbecker. In a short time, all small vehicle driver positions and many slots in Food Service have been filled.

“We are so grateful for the outpouring of support. We have made great headway in filling our volunteer needs, but help is still needed,” Heimbecker said. “With four weeks of Spring Training, then eight weeks on the road, you can only imagine the legions of help we need!”

Openings Include:

CDL Class A Drivers (for tractor trailer driving)

  • Looking for a commitment of 2+ weeks between June 15th and Aug. 15
  • We are always looking for volunteer drivers, but this can be a paid position, based on experience and commitment

During Summer Tour: June 18-Aug. 15

  • Transportation/sleeping in the Volunteer RV
  • All meals provided by the corps, from the food truck!
  • A VIP pass to each Cadets performance
  • The only expense is the cost to get to/from the corps, and we will pick you up at the airport/bus/train station

Roadie Crew

Commitment is from approximately June 10th thru August 15th

  • Looking for several fit, motivated young adults to assist with the movement and loading of props and equipment at housing sites, shows, etc.
  • Ideal for prospective future Cadets, music majors, and folks who want to help the cause and experience life on the road
  • All meals, lodging and transportation provided by the corps – be on the field with the corps at each and every performance!

Heimbecker urges family members, alumni and fans to take a look at The Cadets’ schedule to see if the corps will be somewhere near you this summer. This season, the corps will travel as far as Denver, Col., and deep into Texas. There could be a perfect opportunity to give a little, or a lot, of time to the corps!

“We aren’t asking for a whole summer from a volunteer, although that would be great! A week, maybe two, or even just a day – every little bit helps ensure that these kids have a terrific experience as a Cadet,” Heimbecker said. “We can’t stress enough that expertise in the rolling kitchen is NOT a pre-requisite for assisting on the road. There is a task for every skill level, and we appreciate every bit of help!”
