2010 Cadets and Alumni Corps to join forces on Aug. 8

Alumni invited to play in combined Clifton performance

The 2009 Holy Name Cadets and the Alumni Corps enter the field last summer at Giants Stadium. Below, the Alumni Corps performs following the show. Sign up to perform again in 2010!

The Cadets can’t pass on a good thing - especially when it comes to their alumni!

The success, wonderful memories and connections made during the 75th Anniversary season between the corps and the Alumni Corps haven’t floundered even a tiny bit since that poignant joint performance at Giants Stadium last August. The energy and feedback was so positive that what was billed as a ‘one time’ performance together will now become a second– this year at The Cadets’ home show at Clifton Stadium!

The 2010 Cadets invite alumni to play with them again this summer on Aug. 8 following their home show, Drum Corps – An American Tradition, at Clifton Stadium in Clifton, N.J. The 2010 Cadets and Alumni Corps will play Simple Gifts as a combined ensemble.

The Alumni Corps will also play several pieces on its own during the encore presentation, according to Pat Vasquez, director of the Alumni Corps, including Ragtime Medley and American Salute.

Alumni of all generations are invited to join in the ensemble for the day. A colorguard section will also be included that will march onto the field with the group, carrying the world and national championship flags. Details for a rehearsal that afternoon are being finalized. Some general guidelines:

  • Participants should be past members of The Cadets
  • There is no fee to participate
  • Pat Vazquez is the manager of the group. For further information, he can be reached at (201) 317-5805. Cindi DeVivo is the colorguard contact at cynthia.devivo@yahoo.com.
  • Music will be available for download soon.
  • Brass and Percussion participants will be wearing a maroon polo and black pants.  Please wear your Alumni Corps shirt from last year if possible.
  • Guard participants will be wearing white golf shirts and black capris (or black slacks for any male).  You may wear any type of white sneaker.
