CADETS GUARD AUDITIONS, LEADERSHIP CLINIC this weekend

Cadets ready for busy and final camp in Woodstown, N.J.

The Cadets return this weekend with a full agenda, including colorguard auditions, a leadership clinic and more!

New faces, a leadership focus, plus dozens of drill charts will be in the mix this weekend when The Cadets return for their final camp before Move-In and Spring Training that begins in less than a month. 

The Cadets will spend their last camp weekend at Woodstown High School in Woodstown, N.J., as they welcome the colorguard back for open auditions and kick off their first interactive session with high school and college band students during The Cadets Leadership Experience on Saturday. 

Fold in sectional and ensemble rehearsals, marching technique and, for the first time this season, learning drill sets, the April 30-May 2 camp is filled to the shako’s brim! 

“We’ve got about two minutes of drill for Procession of Nobles to get on the field, rewrites to all show music, and dozens of band students coming for the new series of Experience clinics launched this year,” said Assistant Director Justin Heimbecker. “These are exciting days for the 2010 Cadets, and given the feedback I’m getting from members, they can’t wait to get the weekend started!” 

COLORGUARD AUDITIONS

 The colorguard returns this weekend for the first time since November 2009 and those interested in auditioning are encouraged to attend. Camp begins Friday at 9 p.m. (Registration at 7 p.m.) through Sunday afternoon. Flag, rifle and saber performers who still dream of being a part of The Cadets should definitely make the trip, Heimbecker said. 

THE CADETS LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

Don’t miss an opportunity to make your 2010 student leadership team the best ever! 

Registration is still open to high school and college band section leaders and drum majors who want to hone their skills for the upcoming band season. On Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the first Cadets Experience clinic comes to life as nationally-known leadership facilitator Scott Lang guides students to becoming effective and confident in their roles as leaders. 

Students will also spend time with Cadets’ leaders and drum majors, learning what works, and what doesn’t, when motivating your peers. 

Cost for the Leadership clinic is just $40 per student, and includes lunch. Groups of 10 or more are just $35 per student. Contact Melissa Babalonis for group sales at Melissa@yea.org.

PICK-UPS AND TRANSPORTATION
Air Travelers:

Those traveling by air to Philadelphia International Airport should wait at the designated pick-up location after arriving. 

The pickup location for all air travelers is Terminal C, Baggage Claim F 

The pickup times on Friday, April 30 are as follows:

Traveling by car:
The directions to Woodstown High School are below: 

DIRECTIONS FROM I-295 IN NEW JERSEY:

  • Take Exit #4 off I-295 for Woodstown/Penns Grove
  • At the end of the ramp, take Rt 48 East toward Woodstown
  • After 3 miles, take a left onto Harding Road / Rt 40
  • After 4.5 miles, take a left to stay on Rt 40 / Rt 45 (Wawa / Rite Aid on corner)
  • After 1 mile, stay straight on Rt 40 (Rt 45 goes to the left – do not follow)
  • Just past the railroad tracks, take a right onto East Wilson.
  • At the end of East Wilson, take a left onto Dickinson.
  •  

The gymnasium will be directly in front of you. Unload your belongings into the gymnasium, where registration will also take place.
