Cadets' Alumnus Paul Perniciaro passes away

California and New Orleans services planned

Paul Perniciaro, an alumnus and prior staff member of The Cadets and a member of the famed Southern connection that joined the corps in the early 1980s, passed away in California after a year-long battle with cancer.

Born July 8, 1962, in New Orleans, La., Perniciaro passed away on May 17 at his home in Los Gatos, Calif. He is survived by his wife, Tracie Branch Perniciaro, and children, Christian, 4, and Rachel, 2. 

Perniciaro played baritone in the Garfield Cadets in 1982 and 1983. He was also on staff from 1984-1987. His drum corps affiliations included Dutch Boy, Star of Indiana and the Blue Devils.

Two services – one in California and another in New Orleans – are planned. 

The California funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 22 at 11 a.m. at Christ Child Catholic Church, 23230 Summit Road, Los Gatos, Calif.

The New Orleans, La., service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 701 West Virtue Street, Chalmette, La.  

The New Orleans service arrangements include:

Public viewing at 11 a.m.
Service at 1 p.m.
