Free Hand Drumming classes offered Mondays & Wednesdays

Stress relief class, Family Drum Circle open to Allentown residents

The Urban Arts Center kicked off it newest program on Monday, May 24 with drum circles as part of The Community Hand Drumming Experience Presented by Remo. Nearly 30 participants came out for the Lunchtime Stress Relief class held in the gallery of the Musselman Arts Development Center on 6th and Hamilton streets in Allentown. null

Led by renowned Drum Circle Faciliator Maureen 'Moe' Jerant, the free class welcomes adults every Monday from noon to 1 p.m., to drum to their heart's content, and relieve some of that pent up stress!

The expansion of the program from South Mountain Middle School now includes two FREE sessions held weekly:

 

The Community Hand Drumming Experience Presented by Remo 

Mondays – Noon to 1 p.m. – Lunchtime Stress Relief

Wednesdays – 5-6 p.m. – Drum Circle for Kids and Family

Both sessions are open to the residents and workforce of Allentown!

Hand Drumming: Lunchtime Stress Relief

Come by on your lunch hour and feel the stress fade away with every beat! Led by Drum Circle Facilitator Maureen “Moe” Jerant, this class is designed for adults to rejuvenate their spirit through hand drumming, a proven method to reduce stress and improve your overall well-being. At the same time, discover your hidden musical abilities!null

 

Starting May 26, Every Wednesday 5-6 p.m.

Drum Circle for Kids and Family

This after-school and work session will bring the family together during a spirited and fun Hand Drumming Circle for all ages. As Drum Circle Faciliator Maureen “Moe” Jerant says, it’s a rhythm party where you’re allowed to make plenty of noise! 

No experience necessary for either class! Just show up, grab a drum and start feeling the beat!

 

ABOUT MOE JERANT
Maureen Jerant is a trained Drum Circle Facilitator and long-time percussionist and educator. From the Lehigh Valley area, 'Moe,’ as she is affectionately called, brings to the class years of percussion and hand drumming experience, both locally and nationally. She is the founder of the Stressbuster Drum Circle and conducts private and group music lessons, plays with two musical groups and directs performances by the Jamani Drummers and the Lehigh Valley Drum Circle Ensemble. 

Moe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts Music and is a trained Remo HealthRhythms facilitator.
