Colin McNutt Joins Yamaha Artist Roster

Latest high profile percussionist to partner with Yamaha

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha is happy to announce that Colin McNutt is the most recent addition to their growing roster of Yamaha Percussion Artists.  McNutt is currently the Percussion Caption of the 9 time DCI World Champion Cadets Drum Corps, and is a widely sought after clinician, arranger and educator.

McNutt has instructed and arranged for the Star of Indiana Drum & Bugle Crops, as well as their popular stage production Blast!, which won the 2001 Tony® Award for "Best Theatrical Event" and the 2001 Emmy® Award for "Best Choreography".  McNutt also has written for and instructed several other perennially excellent Drum & Bugle Corps, including the Crossmen, Glassmen, Magic of Orlando, and Madison Scouts.

"There are number of young men and women out there who are just teaching a drumline, but Colin is one of the young guys that is doing so much more," said Troy Wollwage, Marketing Manager for Yamaha Percussion, Band and Orchestral Division.  "He is teaching music, teaching about life, is a composer, and an arranger.  He truly is devoted to his craft and never stops learning. At Yamaha, we look for educators that can have a lasting impact on music education.  Colin in one of those individuals."

As an educator, McNutt has served on the faculty of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he is an alumnus, receiving degrees in Classics and Music Education.  McNutt also takes part in many youth clinics across the country each year, including Yamaha's Sounds of Summer program, where he offers in depth instruction to young percussionists.

"We at Yamaha are honored to have Colin on our team," says John Wittmann, Artist Relations Manager, Yamaha Corporation of America.  "He shares our vision for the highest level of music education being offered to students on the best instruments made.  We welcome Colin and look forward to his influence in our future initiatives."
