Cadets colorguard uniform switch coming Saturday

Color bleed mishap onto pants prompts a quick fix

When The Cadets step onto the field at DCI Eastern Championships in Allentown, Pa., on Saturday, the colorguard will be wearing new uniforms!

The unplanned uniform change comes as a result of a color bleed onto the white guard pants, a discoloration that cannot be washed out, according to Cadets Director George Hopkins.

“Pink in the uniforms has run through the pants and it cannot be fixed,” Hopkins said Wednesday. “We tried everything and Dance Sophisticates has been fabulous in assisting us in getting uniforms that match the show concept, but more importantly, allow the members to feel good about themselves.”

While a quick turnaround on design, fitting and uniform construction was made a reality; The Cadets quickly realized the change in guard uniform affects the recently launched “March with the Cadets” summer campaign that includes an opportunity to march in DCI World Championships with a member of the colorguard.

“Although the guard uniform has changed for the final week of the season, this year’s colorguard buckles were worn the entire season until this Saturday,” said William Speakman, Director of Operation for Youth Education in the Arts, the parent organization of The Cadets. “The opportunity to have your colorguard member’s buckle engraved is still available!”
