Judge Training on the 9th at 9 pm

USSBA Judge Webinar #2 to be Thursday evening

The USSBA will be offering a second judge training session this coming Thursday evening.
From George Hopkins, “ we would really like all judges working on the 11th to be on this call. We will review in detail the intricacies of the weekend events. We also will discuss early season judging issues and items. Of course, all judges are welcome, and perhaps those scheduled for the 18th might want to hop on board; but for certain, those for the 11th would do themselves and the bands a good turn to stop in for an hour”

The USSBA utilizes the skills of over 250 adjudicators each fall. A key component of the success of the rating of band performances is a series of training efforts that occurs under the guidance of George Hopkins, CEO of Youth Education in the Arts. Each week there are different aspects of the process discussed with topics such as percussion judging from the ensemble music position, how to judge overall effect, number management, and other day to day issues.  This year, the USSBA will also be producing a series of vignettes that judges can take a look at in their leisure.

The information for the meeting is here below. Please register so we know to expect you.

This session will cover the following over 75 minutes of fun and Hopkins talking and talking.

- Philosophy of the USSBA
- Practical Judge information
- The flow of a show day
- the critique
- the scoring system and the variations
- Your coordinators
- Travel and hotels and miles and stuf

and ... a list of numerous sessions that will be taped and on line so that you can be as prepared as possible for the Fall that is coming at us faster than I can imagine.
