Season opening weekend features four events

USSBA shows on Saturday launch 10-week run

This weekend's kick off USSBA events includes four events in that many states.

When the stadium lights are turned on this Saturday for the kick off the 22nd season of the US Scholastic Band Association, nearly 40 groups will take the field for their marching debut. Four events will launch the 2010 season, two that will provide bands with the unique clinic/preview format, an opportunity for students and instructors to receive immediate feedback from seasoned professionals after they perform.

Edison High School in Edison, N.J., and Northwest High School in Germantown, Md., will both host Clinic/Preview events while Rockville High School in Vernon, Conn., and North Penn High School in Lansdale, Pa., will welcome bands to their silver and gold star shows, respectively.

The first day of shows heralds a stellar line-up of nearly 140 events in 14 states this fall. In all, the USSBA team will coordinate nearly 50 Regional, Championship and headline events and also provide quality adjudication and show staff for nearly 100 locally-sponsored shows from California to Massachusetts, and Idaho to Texas!

“The USSBA team welcomes you to our first events this Saturday, and to all those that follow,” said Sean King, Director of the USSBA. “Each and every weekend for the next 10 weeks, we are dedicated to bringing students, music educators, parents and fans some of the finest, positive experience marching events in the country. If something isn’t to your liking, please let us know and we’ll do our best to fix it for the next time!”
