National Championships headlines our last weekend of events

Northern & Southern States, plus Marine Corps Invitational details

The final weekend of the 22nd season of the US Scholastic Band Association is here and there is plenty to celebrate! 

  • Nearly 700 bands
  • 138 events in 14 states
  • Thousands of band student’s lives touched by the thrill of performance
  • And of course, the weather Gods who provided us some spectacular days and evenings!

We’ve got four final events remaining on the 2010 schedule and we couldn’t be more excited than to be heading to Annapolis, Md., for the fourth time in five years for our grand USSBA National Championship. More than 100 bands from as far as Massachusetts and Georgia will perform Nov. 5-7 at the stunning Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on the campus of the US Naval Academy.

The team also heads to Chattanooga, Tenn., on Saturday as 19 bands vie for the USSBA Southern States Championship title. Finley Stadium on the campus of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga plays host to groups from Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi! Also this Saturday, the USSBA and its good friend and sponsor the US Marine Corps come together for a show on the other coast! The Marine Corps Invitational West brings 16 bands together in Woodland Hills, Calif., for the title event.

It wouldn’t be the end of the fall marching season without playing the last note in legendary J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown, Pa. It’s the I A and III A epic event on Sunday as the last of the three-day USSBA Northern States Championship series closes out 2010.  Forty-three bands will perform as the USSBA comes off last weekend’s phenomenal two-day run at J. Birney that featured another 80 groups – all part of America’s largest high school marching band competition!
