Cadets 2011 Summer Tour to hit San Fran & Pacific Northwest

We're gearing up for 36 performances coast to coast!

The Cadets will spend a day in San Francisco, Calif., this summer during their 2011 tour!

California, Oregon, even Seattle, Washington, here we come!

The 2011 Cadets will travel thousands of miles in the coming season. Once the 12-vehicle convoy departs Spring Training in mid-June, 150 Cadets will depart on a journey that includes stops in 23 states and 36 performances along the way!

“It will be a summer these members will never forget,” said Cadets Assistant Director Justin Heimbecker. “Not only will we log the miles, but the corps will have the chance to entertain fans, and meet with alumni, that seldom ever have the opportunity.”

Spring Training runs from May 13 through June 9 in Johnstown, Pa. From there, The Cadets will make their way east for the weekend, giving alumni and friends a chance to see them in a special preview performance in North Jersey and Allentown, Pa.  It will be a memorable send-off for The Cadets that will make the long haul to Texas for two back-to-back shows on June 18 and 19 as part of the new DCI Tour of Champions series.

The Cadets will have the opportunity to perform in the Tour of Champions series eight times this summer, as DCI launches a unique new event format. Included in these events are the Blue Devils, Blue Stars, Bluecoats, Cadets, Carolina Crown, Cavaliers, Phantom Regiment and Santa Clara Vanguard.

The Summer Tour will take The Cadets to sunny California for the first time since 2007 where they will perform in Clovis, Stanford and Stockton from June 24-26. Cadets Director George Hopkins has scheduled in some amazing ‘off’ days for the members to soak up the hot spots of the West Coast, including a day the beach in Huntington Beach, Calif., and a San Francisco free day.

The scenery will be spectacular as The Cadets move up the West Coast into the Pacific Northwest in late June to early July. Events in Medford and Hillsboro, Oregon, are scheduled along with several days being spent in Seattle, Wash., for a show and some tourist time along the waterfront and in the region’s famed Fish Market.

The Cadets will depart the West Coast following a festive July Fourth, making their way to shows in Idaho, Utah, Denver and Omaha, Nebraska.

“We’ll have been on the road just four weeks but we will have traversed across the country,” Heimbecker said. “And there’s still five more weeks of tour to go!”

Mid-July will find The Cadets performing in Minneapolis, Rockford, Ill., Kansas City, Wichita and Broken Arrow before the corps returns to the Lone Star State for shows in Houston, San Antonio and Dallas. Similar to tours of the recent past, a departure from Texas will bring The Cadets back through the Southeastern states, including stops for shows in Murfreesboro, Tenn., Atlanta, Ga., and Rock Hill, S.C.

By early August, alumni and fans on the East Coast will be more than ready to bring the corps home, and events in West Chester, Pa., on Aug. 3, Allentown, Pa., on Aug. 6 will be the perfect way to reconnect with The Cadets before they head to DCI World Championships from Aug. 11-13 in Indianapolis, Ind.

See for yourself what an incredible journey this will be!
