Talk shop, the appoaching 2011 season at Chicago conference

Team members from the US Scholastic Band Association are at The Midwest Clinic, An International Band and Orchestra Conference, in Chicago, Ill., Dec. 15-18.

George Hopkins, CEO of Youth Education in the Arts, the parent organization of the USSBA, Sean King, director of the USSBA, and Jon Swengler, USSBA Band Host Relations, will meet with sponsors and music educators as the Allentown, Pa., -based non-profit shapes up initiatives and programs for 2011.

This is the eighth year that Youth Education in the Arts has sent representatives to The Midwest Clinic, a well-known conference for music educators and musicians that began in 1946. With music education programs such as the Cadets Drum Corps, the USSBA, and other youth initiatives, the clinic is the ideal opportunity for YEA! and the USSBA to reach out to its friends and corporate partners in education and the marching arts activity.

“The USSBA team looks forward to meeting with many of our friends from throughout the world of music at this national event,” said King. “Presentations and meetings are set with band directors from different regions where we’re looking to grow, as well as conversations with our corporate partners reviewing the year’s achievements and plans for the upcoming New Year.”

Directors, boosters and staff who would like to schedule time to meet with the team over the next four days should contact them at jonathan@yea.org, sking@yea.org, or Hopkins@yea.org.
