Indoor instructors, directors invited to Jan. 12 webinar

Informative session will look into the USSBA systems

Nearly 40 US Scholastic Band Association Indoor adjudicators took advantage of the first in a series of webinars as the 2011 season kick off nears. The webinar held Wednesday night provided judges insight into the philosophies of the USSBA and gave many tools necessary to bring quality evaluations to USSBA units.

Multiple topics were covered, from the expectations of standards and professionalism, to numbers management and how to carefully rank and rate.

The webinar series continues on Jan. 12 for the instructor and directors of indoor units. The focus for the instructor community will be the application of the system and its consequences to the competitive arena.  The color guard system will remain the same from 2010 but there are adjustments in regards to the percussion system.

Rich Hammond, percussion education director for USSBA Indoor, is in the process of finishing the project and will be releasing the information soon.  He has been in consultation with various experts in the activity to offer the best adjudicating tools possible for this upcoming season.  One of the webinar topics will be the implementation of this new system.

We are looking forward to the fruitful continuation of last year’s inaugural season.  The bottom line is the students involved and their positive experience.  It needs to be a community effort at all levels for the 2011 season to be the success we all want.

Thank you for your support and we’re all looking forward to USSBA 2011 Indoor Season!
