Cadets keeping an eye on weather for weekend camp

Friday Weather Update: Rehearsals are going as scheduled

The Cadets go back to Woodstown, N.J., this weekend for their third camp of the 2011 season.

WINTER WEATHER UPDATE:
As of Friday morning, camp is on as scheduled! We ask you to try to leave early and take your time traveling.
The school will be opened by 3:30 p.m. today for early arrivals. We would suggest anyone coming from the north to leave as early as possible, beat whatever accumulation there is, and get to camp safely. Should you have any questions, contact Justin Heimbecker at justin@yea.org.

This weekend’s first rehearsal camp in 2011 has The Cadets in full stride as the brass section works on show music from “Angels in the Architecture” and the corps welcomes back many members of the colorguard who are attending optional winter rehearsal sessions.

The third camp of the season will be held at Woodstown High School in Woodstown, N.J. Colorguard members without prior commitments are encouraged to attend to work on their body movement and equipment skills during the customary ‘off-months.’ Brass and percussion musicians who still might want to audition are encouraged to come out during what is really the final camp to do so, according to Justin Heimbecker, assistant director of The Cadets.

"At this weekend's camp, The Cadets brass section will continue through the material from 'Angels in the Architecture,'" said Cadets Director George Hopkins. "Changes were made to the first two minutes and an additional two minutes are to be added to the program. In addition, the percussion line is scheduled to add on to the overall as Colin and Iain have written two minutes of the percussion score."

ATTENDING? WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW…

Register for camp on the corps’ web site, or walk-up registration is available beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7. Registration will take place in the cafeteria on Friday night, as the gymnasium is unavailable.  After unloading and registration, luggage can be placed upstairs in the back of the auditorium.
