Extended camp includes show music, uniform sizing

Cadets return to Woodstown, N.J., for February rehearsals

The Cadets will hold their fifth camp of the season this weekend in Woodstown, N.J.

The Cadets are back this weekend and for some members, an extended stay at Woodstown High School will result in about eight more hours of rehearsal time for the percussion section.

“We are taking advantage of camp falling on President’s Day Weekend to allow the battery and front ensemble stay on for the evening Sunday and get in some extra hours of solid practice time,” said Justin Heimbecker, assistant director of The Cadets. “The brass section will run on a normal camp schedule, and this weekend we encourage any colorguard member to join us for several special sessions.”

The brass section will add three minutes to their show repertoire with a plan in place to have nearly nine minutes of ‘Angels in the Architecture’ taught by ensemble rehearsal on Sunday afternoon. The extra rehearsal time on Sunday will allow the percussion section to be practically caught up with the brass, said Heimbecker.

Colorguard members are also invited to attend optional equipment and body movement sessions on Saturday and Sunday. The rehearsals are not mandatory but open to members and band students who are not participating in indoor programs.

The weekend will also include a visit by representatives of DeMoulin & Bros. Company, the exclusive uniform provider to The Cadets. Steve Trull, vice president of sales and marketing, and Vaughan Sawdon, area representative, will assist with sizing and measuring of members who will be fitted in the coming months.

All camp attendees are asked to check in at the registration table in the cafeteria between 7-9 p.m.
