Win $50,000 for your school's music program

Live for Music Tour seeks your ensemble video

Shaun Barrowes’ Live for Music Tour is visiting high schools around the country to assist MENC – National Association for Music Education in spreading their advocacy message of quality music education for all. Shaun Barrowes and Live for Music are searching for the most talented school music ensembles to showcase in concert, giving those schools the spotlight to shine for the world; and they will donate a portion of the concert proceeds to the school’s music and arts programs.

A nationwide YouTube competition will be held online to find the best school ensembles in the country. All schools are welcome to upload their YouTube video auditions and submit them for consideration until March 31.

Shaun Barrowes (Fox's American Idol) and Stephanie Castagnier (NBC's The Apprentice) will visit the 30 winning schools to perform a Live For Music Tour concert and feature the winning school’s music ensembles, at no cost to the schools.

The Grand Prize – Shaun Barrowes and Live for Music will donate $50,000 to the winning school’s music and arts program. One school will be selected from the top 30 First Prize Winners based on their overall concert performance and production. The $50,000 will be awarded to that school’s music program at the end of the school year.

YouTube Video Grand Prize – Shaun Barrowes and Live for Music will donate $10,000 to the winning video from Round Two of the competition.

The Top 30 Schools Receive: A Live for Music Tour Concert, a full concert DVD, your own professional music video and 20 percent of all ticket sale proceeds.

International pop sensation and American Idol finalist, Shaun Barrowes, and Stephanie Castagnier from NBC’s The Apprentice will come to your school. Shaun Barrowes and his band will perform in your school auditorium and showcase your top students in the concert, including your top choir, band, orchestra, drum line and dance team.

And, 20% of all ticket sale proceeds will be donated to the school’s music and arts program.

Requirements:

Ensembles considered for this opportunity must be an official school ensemble under the direction of the school music teacher. We are looking for concert choirs, concert bands or wind ensembles, orchestras, show choirs, drum lines, dance ensembles or other large unique school music ensembles.

Judges will evaluate the videos based on the emotional interpretation of the song first and foremost. The judges want to see how the ensemble captures the essence of the song. In addition the performances will be judged on overall performance quality, intonation, dynamics and musicality. Here’s the percentage breakdown:

Emotion: 35 percent
Musicality: 35 percent
Performance: 30 percent

The $50,000 Grand Prize will be awarded to the high school that puts on the best overall performance in the Live for Music Tour. Judging criteria and more details will be given to the 30 schools selected for the Live for Music Tour 2011-2012.

Schools selected for concert appearances will be notified by Live for Music via e-mail.
