USSBA registrations Week 1 in the books

Momentum continues towards a great fall

At the end of the first full week of registrations, the US Scholastic Band Association team is excited by the daily rate of band directors enrolling for their participation in the 2011 fall marching band season.  Registrations have been strong for new events as well as stalwart events from local annual high school hosted events to the premier Championship venues.  Allentown-028 (Custom).jpg

“Several of the USSBA Championship and premiere events are rapidly approaching their full capacity,” said Larry Harper, events manager for the USSBA.  “The Yamaha Cup at New Meadowlands Stadium is almost full within seven days.  The National Championships and most of the State Championships are nearing 50 percent capacity at a rate faster than the team here has seen before.  It is actually quite remarkable.”

The Yamaha Cup stands with 38 of the 50 slots already filled and the New Jersey State Championships for Groups IIA, IVA, VA and VIA growing close to 30 bands, as a sample of the fastest growing shows this year. Several local contests are also well into the teens and a few have even eclipsed the 20 band mark.  Kudos go out to all of our hosts who have gotten ahead of the curve and are heavily recruiting in our first weeks.

Jon Swengler, band relations representative, said of the registration process, “We’ve had a few band directors call in for assistance with our new Band Data system and it is a pleasure to speak with them and see how we can best serve their needs for the upcoming season.”  Swengler added, “If you have any questions or need assistance in the registration process, call or email Greg (Jackson) or myself, and we’ll be happy to guide you through the process.”

Swengler can be reached at (610) 821-0345, Ext. 113, or email, or Jackson at (610) 821-0345, Ext. 117, or
