Dorothy was an active member of the American Legion Post #90 Ladies Auxiliary in Mamaroneck, an avid fan of drum and bugle corps and had a love for photography.

Dorothy became an avid fan of The Garfield Cadets in the late 1970s when David, her only son, was a member from 1979 to 1982. Dave was also on staff from 1983 through 1993 and helped manage the Cadets Stagecoach Company from 1994–2004. Dave is also a frequent volunteer to The Cadets and Youth Education in the Arts organization.

Dorothy was known for her always-open door to drum corps kids. She clipped every newspaper article, kept countless photo albums, bought every souvenir T-shirt and button, and made yearly donations for nearly 25 years.
