Rich Hammond joins the USSBA team full time

Assumes role of Manager of Band Relations

The US Scholastic Band Association is pleased to announce the addition of Rich Hammond to the staff serving in a newly developed position – Manager of Band Relations. Rich Hammond.jpg 

Hammond, a graduate of the Baltimore School for the Arts, attended the University of the Arts and the Peabody Conservatory of Music. He is a percussionist and has been involved in arranging and instruction his entire adult life.  For 15 years he has been the director of percussion at North Penn High School in Lansdale, Pa.  In addition, he has been the percussion arranger for the Reading Buccaneers since 2001 and the program coordinator since 2006.   

Hammond also operates an independent music arranging and engraving business called Hammond Creations started in winter 2006. He has arranged and worked with multiple high schools through the years and is well known throughout the percussion community.  

Hammond is not unfamiliar with the philosophies of the USSBA having served as the Education Director of Percussion, a position he assumed in the 2010 USSBA Indoor season. 

In his new role as manager of band relations, Hammond with lead a team of three in providing communication and service to the bands of the USSBA. 

"I'm very excited about being a part of the YEA team in my new and expanded role.  It's a perfect marriage of all things that I am interested in,” said Hammond. 

Hammond lives in Flemington, N.J., with his wife Monica.
