A great home show in West Chester, and Rudy's engaged!

Angel and Demon Diary: Cadets daily updates from the road

Congratulations to Justin Heimbecker and his new fiancé Kelly Howell!

Last night was the first Cadets home show in a very long time, and it was great to be back in the northeast. A large crowd of maroon shirts and jackets gathered to watch the drumline warm up in the lot, in spite of the constant drizzle. The line played extremely well as the spectators laughed and cheered them on.

The West Chester stands were packed, and The Cadets put on a great show in spite of slippery field conditions. The drizzling stopped just long enough for them to perform, then picked right back up.

After the show, the parking lot was a sea of maroon. The dark sky drizzled and practically spat, but the Cadets spent extra time enjoying hot dogs, cupcakes, Rice Krispies Treats and a plethora of Gatorade from alumni, friends and family.

Eventually it started to pour, so The Cadets got down to business and loaded up the trucks quickly. Meanwhile, Rudy (Justin) proposed to his girlfriend Kelly outside of her car. “It started pouring, and it was just time,” he said.

A few minutes later, the two were standing (Kelly’s left hand in the air) in front of 150 cheering Cadets.

The scores were crazy close last night – The Cadets trailed the Blue Devils by just five hundredths of a point with The Cavaliers just a couple tenths behind – and it’s still anybody’s game. This will certainly be the most interesting finals week push DCI has seen in a while.

The Cadets have a quick rehearsal schedule today, and they see the Blue Devils again tonight in Lawrence, Mass.

**Thanks to Lisa Kerr Pirie for the pictures from the show!

(In other news, the food truck's refrigerator finally seems to be fixed! The temperature has been dropping ever since yesterday afternoon.)
