A special night in New York City

Select performers from The Cadets Drum Corps, the national touring ensemble of Youth Education in the Arts (YEA!), had the distinct honor of performing for the President of the United States and forty of the world’s leaders at the United Nations Wednesday, September 21st  in New York City.  This was the first performance for The Cadets at the United Nations and marked the second performance for President Barack Obama, the first of which took place in 2009 during the Presidential Inauguration Parade in Washington, DC.

“The Cadets are honored to be able to provide a small ensemble for this presidential event in NYC on the 21st. We were thrilled to be a part of the inaugural parade, and to return for a "more intimate" visit is fabulous!” said George Hopkins CEO of YEA! and Director of the Cadets.

The Cadets recently captured their 10th DCI World Championship title in Indianapolis, IN, and performs each year in front of thousands of marching music enthusiasts across the United States. This elite ensemble was made up of volunteers who were able to come together in a short period of time to rehearse in Allentown, PA, before making the trip to New York City for the performance.

The Cadets are currently looking for members for the upcoming 2012 season. For more information on being a member of the Cadets and how to audition please visit
