New York State Champion Crowned on Saturday

13 Bands from across New York came together to perform for the New York State Championship

Allentown, PA- On Saturday October 22, 13 bands from across the state of New York came together at Hofstra University’s James Shuart Stadium to participate in the US Scholastic Band Association (USSBA) New York State Championships. This all-day event had bands competing in different groups based on band size. A panel of judges from around the country evaluated the bands on their musical and visual performances with each group producing a champion.

The New York State Champions are:

Group 1-A Manhasset High School

Group 2-A Hicksville High School

Group 3-A Lindenhurst High School

Group 5-A Tottenville High School

Group 6-A Port Chester High School

Group 1 Open - Monsignor Farrell High School

Group 4 Open Garden City High School

Group 5 Open Copiague High School

Also awarded was The Cadets Award of Excellence which is presented to the band that has the highest achievement in the areas of creativity, excellence and overall effect. The winner of the award at the New York State Championship was Copiague High School from Copiague, NY.
