Successful First Rehearsal Wrapped

Next Camp Dec. 9-11

With the book closed on the first successful camp of 2012, the Cadets’ staff is painstakingly reviewing the results of the auditions, and the admin team is locking down details for the next camp Dec. 9–11 at Woodstown High School in Woodstown, N.J.hopatauditions

Veteran member leaders are following up with the potential 75–100 returning vets, while staff is contacting everyone who received 1’s and 2’s on their auditions to ensure their questions are answered and they are on track to return for the December camp.

Corps Director George Hopkins said, “The corps really comes into shape at the December camp and we start getting down to business on learning the show. We’ve taken a slightly different direction with the show from originally introduced, and will be announcing that later this week, but at this point it comes down to settling the different section we have in the corps. The turn-out was solid and the talent, while younger than in recent years, was above average. With the battery not returning as many as in past years, there are plenty of opportunities for snare drummers and, of course, we always welcome qualified brass players.”

Hopkins continued, “Right now we are looking for those marchers who have some experience, but for whatever reason are not returning to their previous corps, or would like to challenge themselves to be a ‘Cadet.’ Generally in that time between November and December, intentions and plans change, and we welcome all to come join us at the December camp and experience The Cadets.”
