2012 Membership Drive Push is on for December Camp

Cadets Camp Returns to Woodstown H.S. N.J. Dec. 9-11

The Cadets Membership Drive for the 2012 season is in high gear as the 10-time World Champions prepare to return to their winter home at Woodstown High School in Woodstown, N.J. for the December 9-11 audition and rehearsal camp.

Corps Director George Hopkins said about the corps current Membership Drive for 2012, “We are pulling out all of the stops to bring in a fantastic array of talent for the December camp.” Hopkins added, “Due to a variety of reasons, including a larger than usual number of college football games impacted attendance at the first camp, in turn a good number of returning and prospective members weren’t able to attend the November camp.  But once we hit the December rehearsals, the corps comes into a little sharper focus and with the announcement of the 2012 program, we’re ready to get down to work.”

George Hopkins announced the change in program choices late last week with the corps’ creative staff beginning work on a production entitled “12.25.”  The feedback on the show concept formulated around Christmas-themed musical compositions has been well-received and the wraps will be taken off the first musical arrangements on Dec. 9.

As for the make-up of the corps, Hopkins added, “We are in a different position than in past years with a large turnover in the percussion section.  Colin and the team is hard at work on arrangements as well as bringing in new talent, but we have spaces throughout the battery, so we’re encouraging snares and tenors who would like to come in to take a shot!”  Hopkins continued, “Fortunately we are looking at a full front percussion section and a larger than usual number of trumpets.  That being said, we never want to discourage prospective members to come check us out!”  Color guard will not be participating in rehearsals for the winter as indoor guard takes center stage before returning in April.

Registration is currently open for the Dec. 9-11 Cadets camp to be held at Woodstown H.S. in Woodstown, N.J.  Register for December Camp here.
