The USBands staff has been at work through this long, yet warm winter, preparing for one of the most ambitious and exciting schedules in the organization’s 24-year history.

Here is the first draft of the extremely preliminary draft of the 2012 USBands fall marching band season schedule provided to the band directors and hosts for tentative planning.drummer

George Hopkins, CEO of YEA! and founder of USBands, said about the release of the first draft of the 2012 schedule, “We’re trying something a little different this year with our schedule release. In an effort to be more transparent in our planning, we want to be partners with all of our hosts in the planning process by showing different drafts of the schedule before we settle in on the final.”

Hopkins emphatically added, “We cannot stress strongly enough this first draft is not the final schedule, but rather a work in progress.”

Rich Hammond, band relations director for USBands, added, “We are working overtime trying to connect with colleges, universities and the pros on the stadium availabilities, that in its own right is a challenge given their own issues. Our local hosts have been super to work with thus far and we have some more tweaks to make before finalizing. By releasing a tentative schedule, we can show the work in progress and work toward a successful event by all of our hosts.”

This is not the final schedule and we appreciate if you keep the information to your event team, as there's a potential of a great deal of confusion if the preliminary schedule is made public prematurely. We appreciate your discretion in this matter.

PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO REVIEW AND CONFIRM YOUR DATE AS WE WILL BE GOING LIVE WITH REGISTRATIONS ON OR ABOUT MARCH 1 TO USBANDS MEMBER BANDS.

If you have any questions regarding your date, please contact Rich Hammond at Rich@YEA.org with any concerns as soon as possible.

IF YOUR EVENT IS NOT LISTED, once again please contact Rich to confirm your date or complete a letter of intent by Wednesday, Feb. 15.

Hammond added, “We still have open dates on the schedule in particular areas and as we reach what we feel to be the sweet spot for the regions and the number of bands we serve.”

In order for your event to appear on the 2012 USBands schedule registration form, the USBands will need to receive a signed letter of intent, deposit paid in full, as well as your account will need to be in good standing. Otherwise, the USBands reserves the right to not include your event for open registration to member bands beginning March 1, until which time these conditions are met.

We do want to share that judge assignments will begin shortly and many of the confirmed hosts will start their recruitment of bands, so if you are not on the schedule we strongly recommend that you confirm your date by Feb. 23 in order to maximize your opportunity as a 2012 USBands local event host.

Thank you in advance and we look forward to working alongside you on the most successful season ever.
