Sat. WX Update: Full Cadets2 Rehearsal This Weekend in A-town

Light Snow No Issue for Rehearsal to Begin On-time

After a very successful mini-camp this past Super Sunday, Cadets2 members and staff are ready to get down to work on what many call the most important camp thus far for the new corps.  Camp will be held on Saturday and Sunday, February 11 and 12 at South Mountain Middle School at 709 West Emmaus Ave. in Allentown, PA.

Cadets2 Corps Director, Eric Kitchenman says, "We woke up to some light snow and fog in the air, but the roads are clear.  Just be aware of slick spots on your way to Allentown. We're still under the "get here when you can" rule to ensure everyone takes their time in getting to rehearsal.  We encourage everyone to be careful in their commute to South Mountain Middle School. But as of 7AM, we are 'all systems go' for launch."

On an up note, Kitchenman says the staff is ready to go and the members are extremely excited to dive into more of the literature over the weekend.  “We are doing our best to make up for lost time due to the camp cancellation in January,” Kitchenman said.  “By the end of this camp, we should have a very good idea as to where we stand with the program and we can start tweaking and making it even better.”

Kitchenman went on to say that while the additional recruiting has been paying off with more new members at each camp. “We are still looking for a final few brass players, specifically trumpets and baritones. The numbers are crucial to how we put the program together and with the drill design process which will begin very shortly once our numbers are finalized.”

Rich Hammond, program coordinator for Cadets2 also added in speaking about the current membership, “Our battery percussion is very deep in talent, but we are looking for a few more mallet players to round out the front percussion ensemble.”

Each member of the corps and staff have been tasked to invite someone they know who plays one of the instruments the corps is searching for, and from the initial positive reaction, the empty positions could be filled soon.

If you are interested in performing as a member of Cadets2, please RSVP to Melissa at Melissa@yea.org or by phone at 610.821.0345 ext 115.

If you’re in the area and would like to stop by and see the progress of the corps, everyone is welcomed for the Ensemble Rehearsal on Sunday from 1-2PM.
