After an exhaustive search, YEA! announced the addition of Brad Martin to the team as director of donor and alumni relations.

martinMartin said of his addition to the YEA! team, “Working for an organization you love makes coming to work every day a joy. And being part of Youth Education in the Arts is a dream come true for me. In my new role, I am passionately committed to connecting our friends and alumni to the young people in all of our performing groups.”

Martin is not a newcomer to music and the world of drum corps, having marched in the 1980s with the Steel City Ambassadors and the Star of Indiana. Later, he joined the percussion staff for The Cadets and Bluecoats before completing his degrees in music education and performance and teaching in the public schools. Martin’s life took a different direction in the mid-'90s as he moved into the business world and became a store manager for several large retailers.

“Over the years, I have continued to be a drum corps and marching band fan and have always followed The Cadets," Martin said. "To become part of YEA! and help support the young people in all of our programs is an exciting and challenging new opportunity for me. What the performers in The Cadets, Cadets2, USBands and the Urban Arts Center get out of participating in these organizations is immeasurable. They learn to strive for excellence, work as a team, to make friends, and in the end become better people because of their involvement with YEA!”

Martin said he looks to meeting and working with every donor and alumni. "Through music and arts education, we can shape the youth of today to become the leaders of tomorrow. I hope you will join with me.”

The new director is originally from Wheeling, W.Va. and is a graduate of West Virginia University with a music education degree. He continued his education at the University of Illinois earning a Master of Music Performance in percussion and went to become an assistant band director and public school educator in Indiana and West Virginia from 1993-1996, while performing in orchestras during that time.
