Cadets2 Announce Leadership Positions for 2012

Cadets Organizations Develop Strong Member-Leaders

Being a drum major or a section leader in The Cadets comes with a tremendous amount of responsibility in a model that has been developed over years and years, and now the tradition extends to Cadets2.

It is with great enthusiasm that the Cadets2 organization recognizes the first-ever leaders for the 2012 inaugural season for the corps.

The Drum Majors for the Cadets2 inaugural season will be Sean Donnelly and Abigail Molen.

Rich Hammond, Program Coordinator said, “Through a two-camp audition process, two individuals came to exemplify the standards by which the corps will be led on the rehearsal and competitive field.  The instructional team is pleased to have selected two young people who have already grabbed the reins and are building enthusiasm and respect throughout the entire organization.”

Minesh Shah, the brass caption head was similarly complimentary of the leaders for the brass section.  “We are lucky to have Mike Tanzos as our Horn Sergeant and Trumpet Section leader after having marched with the 2011 World Champion Cadets.”  Shah continued, “In building the relationship between both corps, Mike is an outstanding example of veteran leadership in a very young corps, and we will rely on him a great deal to set the tone for Cadets2 using those same lessons he learned in The Cadets.”

Joining Mike Tanzos as brass section leaders will be:  Evan Young, Mellophones, Bo Park, Baritones and Jason Welsh, Tubas.

Percussion Caption Head David Dumont had great things to say about the Percussion leadership as well.  “As of March, we have a very solid nucleus of drummers and we are looking forward to the summer.  There is a great deal of responsibility shouldered by the member-leaders in any unit, whether it is high school band, indoor drumline or drum corps.  By teaching the Cadets method of drumming and leadership, we intend to kick it up a notch, and these five young people will help to take us there.  It is a privilege to work with them all.”

The percussion section leaders are:  Snare and overall battery, Ian Taylor; Tenors, Rob Rocheteau; Bass, Jen Ortiz; Front Ensemble, Matt Bronson.  Cymbals will be announced at a later date.

Colorguard leadership will be announced In May.  However, auditions for the Cadets2 colorguard will be held each Sunday in March.
