Cadets2 Takes First Steps This Weekend

Learning drill tops the list for April 21-22 camp

When members arrive at Cadets2 rehearsal this Saturday, they have been instructed to be properly nourished and hydrated as the corps literally takes its first steps, learning the opener of the Jeff Sacktig-designed drill for the inaugural program "Launch." cadets2launchsquad.jpg

Camp will once again be held at South Mountain Middle School in Allentown as the corps splits its time inside and outside working on the 2012 show.

Throughout the week members have been reminded that the food they eat and the beverages they drink will prepare them for a full weekend of intense musical and visual rehearsals.  Even though the weather looks rainy for Sunday, Corps Director Rich Hammond is expecting a full visual block to take place from 1–5 p.m. Saturday.

Corps' staff members have been staying in constant contact with the members, reviewing rehearsal tapes and instructing on the do's and don'ts in preparation for the upcoming visual rehearsal and musical blocks scheduled for the final camp before every weekend rehearsals begin on May 4–5.

On their own, baritone section members have been working on strengthening their upper bodies for the rigorous summer ahead and engaging in "hangouts" on Google Plus to encourage and support one another. Almost the entire corps has taken on a physical training regimen including running, stretching and other exercises in preparation for a summer of DCA competitions and DCI performances.

Colorguard members will again return to Cadets2 rehearsals this weekend in Allentown in preparation for the season and in advance of the big three day colorguard weekend, next Friday–Sunday to be held at Woodstown High School in Woodstown, N.J. The April 27–29 camp will combine the members and staff from The Cadets with prospective members of the Cadets2 guard on a weekend of spinning, dancing and making friends. Guard members interested in attending the Woodstown camp should RSVP Melissa Barlow at Melissa@YEA.org or call 610-8211-0345 ext.115 for more information. ALL are welcome!

Sunday's ensemble rehearsal will once again be open to the public at South Mountain Middle School. Supporters and fans are invited to come hear the full production and then some, from 2–3 p.m. Sunday afternoon in the auditorium.
