Event Staff and Volunteer Opportunities with USBands Available Now

Show staff and volunteers needed from across the country

09_UpperDarby_Announcer.jpgNot able to let go of your inner band geek? Don’t worry neither are we!

This fall USBands will host over 100 events across almost 20 states. We are no longer limited to just the Northeastern part of the US, and have expanded rapidly. We need show staff and volunteers from all over.

Show Coordinator / Assistant Coordinator

Sounds simple enough right? Your job is to coordinate the show. These two people split responsibility of keeping the show running on time, and in order. They are also responsible for running judge critique and getting bands on and off the field in a timely manner. When there is not a USBands event manager at the show, the show coordinator is the primary face of USBands. They will be responsible for working with the booster associations and volunteers to make sure everyone is in place for a great night.

While this seems simple also, tabulators are the icing on the cake when it comes to making shows go from great to flawless. With our switch to digital recording this year, added responsibilities will be uploading judges’ comments from the Yamaha records to a folder where directors can access them, in addition to adding up the numbers. You don’t have to be a computer whiz, but a tech savvy personality would certainly be an asset.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

While we don’t need volunteers at every single show, any large USBands regional, state championship or national championship needs quite a few to run. Your role here would be to assist the coordinators, set up the judges room, sell tickets, merchandise, candy grams, air grams etc. When there are over 50 bands in a show it is important to have as many volunteers on hand as possible.

So weather you’re a band mom or dad that just can’t seem to stop going to shows or are in college and need volunteer experience, as long as you love the marching arts — we want you! Now is a great time to apply to be a part of our event staff.

…But what about my old USSBA polo/hat/jacket?

If you have worked events with us in the past, I’m sure you have some old USSBA gear lying around. We will soon be unveiling all of the NEW merchandise which will be available for show staff to wear at every event and available for purchase.
