Nationals Summer Update!

Major changes accomplished

With just over 100 days to go before the conclusion of the 2012 marching band season and we are gearing up in the office for a packed weekend of competition. An important reminder: While we are limited to the number of spots available, we are NOT capping any individual group size or classification, just the total number of bands per day!

The major changes made this spring to bring the Open Class Championships to MetLife stadium have been met with an incredibly positive response. Over the course of November 10 & 11 close to 100 bands will have the opportunity to perform on the same field where Eli Manning and Mark Sanchez lead their teams to victory. With both the Jets and Giants away that Sunday, the NFL has managed to set up a weekend full of the best halftime shows around. The anticipated performance schedule will be as follows:

Morning / Afternoon — Group 3
Late Afternoon /Early evening — Group 5
Late night — Group 6

Sunday 11/ 11
Morning — Group 1
Afternoon — Group2
Evening — Group 4

Remember that Monday, Nov. 12 is Veteran's Day and a school holiday, so there shouldn't be any travel issues heading home after a day of great competition.

A similar schedule will be in place for the A-Class National Championships at Navy Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis with a slight shift in the groupings.

Not sure if either of these events are right for you?

New for 2012 we are hosting the National Marching Band Class at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown, Pa. This one day event is a perfect way to end your season without the travel costs or added competitive pressure. We welcome bands from around the Lehigh Valley and beyond to showcase their talents on the same field that DCI East is held every August.
