Xcape Relaunched: September, 2012

Xcape now offering ballet, jazz and contemporary dance

Xcape1.jpgAfter a brief hiatus, YEA!’s comprehensive dance education program, Xcape, is back with even more to offer the Lehigh Valley youth.

“We shut the program down for a couple of weeks in August so that I could renovate, clean up and decorate the studio space in order to provide a motivating and inspiring space for the students to dance,” said Program Director Dawn Blanco.

Previously, Xcape only offered hip-hop classes, but with along with a new schedule, Dawn has introduced jazz, ballet and contemporary/modern dance into the curriculum as well. “I created a new schedule that provides different styles of dance to the students,” she said. “This provides kids with more opportunities to dance and take more classes. With organization and a clearer perspective of the program’s goals and objectives, students will receive a more comprehensive education. We aim to have more consistency of attendance and returning students from year to year.”

Dawn Blanco is a professional dancer, choreographer and teacher.  She began her dance training at the age of seven and is trained in ballet, modern, jazz, musical theatre and hip hop dance. She studied and choreographed dance at Temple University and Kutztown University and went on to study dance at Broadway Dance Center, Alvin Ailey Studio, Steps on Broadway and Dance New Amsterdam in New York City. In her ten years of teaching experience, she has taught students ranging from young children to adults.
