Fifty Group A bands performed at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Saturday, and every student deserves a sincere congratulations on a fantastic marching band season. “The A-Class has grown so much in the past couple of years,” said USBands Director Rich Hammond who managed the event. “Our adjudication system seems to be working very well, and many of the A bands have improved so much that we’re going to encourage them to move up to the Open class next year because they have the potential to be very competitive there in the future.”

It was a long, chilly day, and the judges huddled around heaters atop the press box between bands, but everyone worked hard together to enjoy the day and make it memorable for the students.

“So many people approached me throughout the show thanking all of us for such a great program! This was an exhilarating experience.” Harold Levin, the A Nationals show coordinator, said.

Thanks to everyone who gave their day to volunteer and make this championship event possible. And a special thanks to all New Jersey bands and directors, and anyone else who struggled through the hurricane, who came out to finish their season with us.

Some photos of the 2012 A National Championship will be posted at Facebook.com/USBands early this week, and thousands of photos will be available in the coming weeks at jolesch.com.
