The Leaders of The 2013 Cadets

The 2013 section leaders were announced last week

Get to know the section leaders:

zack1.jpgZack Travis, Drum Major
Zack, 20, began his drum corps career in the Raiders, a corps based out of New Jersey. He began marching with The Cadets in 2010 and played baritone in the corps for three years before being promoted to drum major for 2013. Zack was the baritone soloist in 2011 and 2012 and baritone section leader in 2012. This will be his age-out summer.

jesse1.jpgJesse Burbank, Horn Sergeant
Jesse, 21, also began marching in drum corps in the Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps in 2007 and 2009. His first summer with The Cadets was 2010, and this will be his fourth summer marching in The Cadets' tuba section. He served as tuba section leader last year. This will be his age-out summer.

Nick McKibben, Trumpet Section Leader

Nick, 18, has been a member of The Cadets' trumpet section since 2010. This will be his fourth summer with The Cadets and his first as a section leader.



allison1.jpgAllison Pryor, Mellophone Section Leader

Allison, 19, has also been marching with The Cadets since 2010. You probably know her from her gorgeous mellophone solo in last year's ballad. This will be Allison's fourth year in The Cadets and second year leading the "Golden Section."

Mike McNeill, Baritone Section Leader

Mike, 20, started marching drum corps in Jersey Surf from 2008 to 2010. His Cadets experience began in 2011 as a member of the baritone section, and this will be his third year in the corps and first as a section leader.


lara2.jpgLara Miller, Tuba Section Leader

Lara, 21, began her marching career in the Caballeros, another New Jersey DCA corps, where she marched from 2008 to 2010. She has been a member of The Cadets' tuba section since 2011, and this is her first year as a section leader. This will be her age-out summer.


lauryn1.jpgLauryn Heller, Color Guard Captain

Lauryn, 21, became a member of The Cadets' color guard in 2008, and this will be her sixth year in the corps. She spins flag, sabre and rifle, and you may know Lauryn as the angel with wings at the end of the 12.25 show. She's also got a close-up in the tour DVD trailer and title menu. This will be her age-out summer.

laney1.jpgLaney Duskin, Color Guard Captain
Laney, 19, also began her drum corps experience as a member of The Cadets. Her first year in the color guard was 2011, in which she was an obvious pick for Team Angel, with her bright-blonde, curly hair. Laney also spins both flag and weapon, and this will be her first summer as a guard captain and third as a Cadet.

nate.jpgNate Kim, Front Ensemble Section Leader
Nate, 20, was a member of the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps in 2007 and 2008. He became a Cadet in 2011, and this will be his third year as a member of the CPit (Cadets Pit). Nate is one of only five CPit members who did not age out after last year, and this is his first year as a section leader.

alexb1.jpgAlex Beltran, Tenor Section Leader

Alex, 20, started marching quads with the Connecticut Hurricanes in 2008 and was a member of the corps through 2010. He came to The Cadets in 2011 and was one of four veterans in the drumline in 2012 and the only vet in the tenor section. This will be his second year as a section leader and third in the corps.

chad1.jpgChad Grundon, Bass Drum Section Leader
Chad, 21, joined the tradition of The Cadets' bass line, Holy Bass, in 2011. Previously, he marched two years, 2008 and 2010, withe the Caballeros. This will be his third year in the corps, his first as a section leader and his age-out summer.

AO2.jpgAlex Ollivierre, Center Snare
Alex was only 18 when he became the center snare for The Cadets' entirely rookie snare line last year. He and the rest of the 2012 snare line received the Percussion Rookie of the Year Award for their incredible accomplishments last season.
