YEA! Seeks Bookkeeper

Immediate Opening to Become Part of YEA! Finance Team

The search is on for an incomparable full-time bookkeeper at Youth Education in the Arts, to start immediately.

YEA! is a dynamic place where we are making magnificence one young person at a time and we’re looking for the perfect person to help manage the financial operations of the organization.

While the hours are long, the payoff is great in the amount of good we are doing through YEA! This is not a position for the average bookkeeper, but rather someone who wants to devote their time and talents to making a mark on the world through music.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete deposits and reconciliations for all bank accounts.
  • Perform bookkeeping functions as assigned including, but not limited to book, reconcile and report administrative, program and event income and expenditures.
  • Coordinate and resolve various issues with bank such as cleared check differences, bank fee anomalies, etc.
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned, including on-site financial management of events (seasonal weekend work required).

Required/Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong bookkeeping skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel or similar programs
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of accounting software for general ledger accounting
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty

The candidate must possess effective technical knowledge related to work assignments and a mindset focused on improving the work flow within the accounting department and throughout the organization.

Excellent organization, problem-solving, written and oral communication, interpersonal and computer skills are also required.

Experience with QuickBooks is preferred as well as ability to learn and work between multiple ancillary software packages.

Non-profit experience is a plus, and an interest in the performing arts, school music programs, dance or other such activities could be of great benefit, as the office environment can be very active during seasonal programs, and work can expand over the fall and during other special events.

This position is pays at a competitive rate based on experience. This is a permanent position and may require hours outside the traditional work day. We are a non-profit that works with passion and commitment to the youth and arts we serve.

NOTE: If possible, we hope to find someone with a love for and interest in marching band, drum corps or the world of pageantry. We have found that interest and understanding of our programs assist all staff in doing the best of all possible jobs. Perhaps your son or daughter marched in band, or you were in the color guard, or perhaps you are just a fan. Granted, our work in finance is real work. But the days at events, the excitement of the band season, and the day-to-day challenges seem better received and enjoyed when one appreciates the programs and services we provide.

Education/experience

  • 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks preferred
  • Nonprofit experience is a significant plus
