USBands Names New Director

Justin Heimbecker to Lead Team in 2013

In January, USBands began a period of transition in leadership that will lead to great success for the 2013 seasons and beyond.

Former USBands Director Rich Hammond has moved over to the Performing Ensembles Department to manage The Cadets and Cadets2. Bill Speakman, who served as Chief Operating Officer for several years, is acting as director of USBands until September 1, 2013. Bill will be overseeing the USBands Indoor Season which begins this weekend at Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School in NJ.

Justin worked in the performing ensembles department at YEA! for five years, managing The Cadets on the road during the summer. Since August 2011, he has been teaching elementary-level music in the Philadelphia area. Justin has also actively devoted the last year and a half to advocating for music in Pennsylvania public schools. He has signed on as Director of USBands through 2016.

“We are very excited to bring Justin back on board in this new role,” said CEO George Hopkins. “There is already a great working relationship between Justin and the team here, and I believe his proactive leadership will take USBands far in his time as director.”

“There’s so much possibility here, and the foundation is set” Justin said. “USBands achieves great things on a large scale, and I believe we have the potential to accomplish even greater things in the coming years.”

In the meantime, the USBands team continues to prepare for the fall season, and registration is already open for A and Open Class Nationals.
