Cadets Hall of Fame Nominations Begin Monday

Criteria outlined, dates set for the highest honor in the organization

hof logoForty-seven names grace the wall in the lobby of The Cadets’ office. Each one represents a commitment of time, a passion for the cause, and a love of something greater than themselves. They are those who have received the highest honor in the organization, The Cadets Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame Committee will be accepting nominations for the Class of 2013 via e-mail and regular mail beginning this Monday, March 4 until midnight on Sunday, March 31.

Key 2013 Hall of Fame Dates
March 4-31: Nominations
April 6-24: Voting by Cadets alumni

The nomination process will remain the same as in past years. If you have previously nominated someone and would like to nominate the same person this year, you are not required to write a new letter.

New this year, we are launching a Screening Committee made up of five Cadets alumni representing all the generations of Cadets who will carefully consider every nomination and support letter. The committee will then present a list of candidates to the alumni for voting. According to Hall of Fame Committee Chair Dr. Eric Santo, “This is similar to what the committee has done each year; however, we felt that it was in everyone's best interest to get some ‘new blood’ involved in the vetting process.”

Criteria for Nomination:

  1. Nominations must come from Cadets alumni; however, anyone may submit subsequent letters of support for nominated candidates.

  2. Nominees must have been active Cadets members, instructional staff or support staff (includes quartermasters, drivers, parents, cooks, etc.).

  3. Nominations must be made by letter to The Cadets Hall of Fame Committee describing the candidate’s qualifications. No more than one nomination per year will be accepted from each individual. Letters and nominations will be sent to The Cadets Office in c/o the chairman of the committee.

  4. Each nomination must be supported by one to three additional support letters describing the nominee’s qualifications. Only two letters per year will be accepted from any one person in support of a nominee. In the event that more than four letters supporting a single candidate are submitted, the person who made the nomination will select no more than three of these letters to be posted along with the ballot.

  5. Groups are no longer eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame.

  6. Nominations and letters of support must be submitted by Sunday, March 31, 2013. No nominations or letters will be accepted after this date.

  7. The selected nominees and their support letters will be posted on The Cadets’ website. The ballots and support letters will NOT be mailed. If an eligible voter does not have a computer, they may contact the Hall of Fame Committee Chairman c/o The Cadets.

  8. Only members of The Cadets Alumni Association and current member of The Cadets Hall of Fame are eligible to vote. Join the Alumni Association.
