YEA! Receives Allentown Arts Ovation Award

Allentown Arts Commission Recognizes YEA!

Youth Education in the Arts is both proud and honored to receive a 2013 Arts Ovation Award from the Allentown Arts Commission. This year, YEA! is one of seven Arts Ovation Award recipients to be recognized at noon on May 2 at the Allentown Arts Committee's Annual Luncheon.

AllentownCityArts.jpgThe Arts Ovation Award was first introduced in 1988 by former commission member Jeff Gordon, who sought to recognize the positive impact of local artists and arts organizations on the Allentown community. The first luncheon attracted more than 400 guests from the local arts, school and corporate communities.

The public is invited to submit nominations for Arts Ovation Awards in the categories of Outstanding Achievement in Visual, Performing or Literary Arts; Outstanding Service or Contributions; and Emerging Artists.

YEA! will be receiving an Arts Ovation Award for Outstanding Service to the Allentown community. According to the official Allentown Arts Commission nomination guidelines, the Arts Ovation Award for Outstanding Service is given to individuals or organizations that have "had a major impact on the arts through devoted service in a volunteer capacity... [or] by contributing financial and/or in-kind resources."

This honor is given to those "whose achievements have had a significant and positive impact on the citizens of Allentown and the quality of life in the Allentown cultural community."

Award recipients are selected from the nominations received by the Arts Ovation Committee of the Allentown Arts Commission.

YEA! would like to thank the Allentown Arts Commission for this honor and our supporters for allowing us to continue to make a different in the lives of youth, both locally and nationwide. The following new video shows the positive impact that Xcape, a program of YEA!'s Urban Arts Center, is making in the lives of about 150 local Allentown youth each week.
