USBands Teams up with Marine Corps for Online Band Contest

Bands Invited to Participate in Spirit Contest to Win Chance to Perform at June 28 All-Star Football Game

USBands and the United States Marine Corps are teaming up in a unique online spirit contest. The winning band will receive an invitation to perform at the opening ceremonies of the first-ever Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone Bowl Game on June 28 at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

The Marine Corps and the Somerset County Coaches Association will host the Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone Bowl Game, featuring high school senior football players from 14 Somerset County schools: Bernards, Bound Brook, Bridgewater-Raritan, Franklin, Hillsborough, Immaculata, Manville, Montgomery, North Plainfield, Pingry, Ridge, Somerville, Watchung and Delaware Valley.

However, the Bowl Game Spirit Contest 14 is not limited to schools in Somerset County! This contest is open to all USBands member schools throughout the state of New Jersey.

Band directors, students and parents are encouraged to nominate their band to participate in the Basilone Bowl Spirit Contest by e-mailing Melissa Reese at mreese@yea.org or contacting her at 610-821-0345 ext. 129. When you nominate your band, a link to the school’s video will be placed on the official United States Marine Corps New Jersey Facebook page, and voting will begin.

The band with the highest number of votes or "likes" on the Facebook page by June 1 will receive an invitation to participate in the Opening Ceremonies at the Basilone Bowl Game on June 28 at Bridgewater-Raritan High School!
