But One Position Remains for Just the Right Person

As The Cadets begin their third week of Spring Training, here's an update on some of the personnel openings which have come up over the past few weeks.


The quest for field conductors brought forth about 70 candidates and we are thrilled to announce that the positions are filled. As of May 30th, the corps will again be at full strength as Kendall Stevenson and John Gardner join up with the Cadets at their Spring Training site in Johnstown, PA. Both come with conducting experience from band and corps so we are thrilled to have experience and passion joining the ranks.

The Cadets would like to thank the many applicants to these two positions. Clearly, there are some great conductors out there in the world and it's a shame not all can be accommodated. 

Merchandise Team 

The Merchandise Team is set. The Cadets will be traveling this summer with a summer team led by Scott Way, who is already here in Johnstown. The other two members of the team will be joining about June 7th or so as we travel cross country bringing Cadet-wear to fans across the DCI nation.

We will be advertising soon for a merchandise manager, full time, to work in the YEA! offices and manage the on line and band efforts as we head to the fall and beyond.

The Corps Proper 

As of May 26th the corps is again filled. We had a trumpet spot open due to departure and a baritone position recently open due to injury. Both positions will be filled by Vets. ( Note -- a few minutes ago, a Tuba went to the hospital with a knee issue - stay tuned) 

The Tour Management Team

We have added Nate Foreman to the team. A Johnstown resident with dreams of working for YEA!, Nate will begin June 9th as an associate member of the team. That would have normally have set the team into motion with a full slate.

However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are on the lookout for the leader of the troops -- a tour manager.

Our planned manager has returned home and will not be available this summer.

With George Hopkins and Bruno Zuccala on the road for most of the summer, there is of course, a solid team of leaders BUT, what we are looking for is the manager, the #2 guy, the person who can coordinate the efforts of all and make the summer an utter joy to be a part of.

We need someone to manage the day to day including: 

> the food operations and the support of the volunteers 

> the travel operations and to support the drivers and transportation manager 

> school and sponsor relations 

> member needs and desires 

> travel planning 

> coordination with the office

In short, we need someone to manage the tour, the tour team and all that are involved. 

A manager, an excellent manager --- to get  the corps from city to city.

The person we are looking on, with short notice, would ideally be a Cadet alumnus but would at least be a past corps administrator. The hours are long, the the pay is ok, so youth could be a definite advantage. On the other hand, experience is a definite plus :-)

We depart June 13th. We would love to have someone on board yesterday but we will do what we have do. Hopkins, Bruno and Rich Hammond are stepping in for the Spring.
