Drumline Takes Part in City Press Conference

Cadets drumline travels to Allentown for construction unveiling

The Cadets' drumline left Spring Training early this morning and took a four-hour bus ride to the corps' home office in Allentown, PA.

City officials and local business executives unveiled a $30-million downtown construction plan in a local press conference held just a block from the YEA! office headquarters from 10-11 a.m. today. The drumline proudly represented Youth Education in the Arts and The Cadets, standing behind the speakers during their addresses and playing at the conclusion of the ceremony.

The crowd then headed down the street, led by 2013 Cadets2 Drum Major Katy Boggs and The Cadets' drumline, to the city's Arts Park for another performance by the drumline as well as a dance performance by the talented members of YEA!'s Xcape Dance Company. Attendees snacked on complimentary fruit and pretzels and enjoyed some cool lemonade to the beat of the drums on this bright, 92-degree day.

After they performed a few excerpts of Side by Side, The Cadets' drumline marched back up the street to the YEA! office, where they changed out of uniform and enjoyed sandwiches, cookies and soda with the office staff before heading back to Johnstown.

Thanks to the drumline for proudly representing The Cadets in our city!
