Ashley Pittman grew up in South Carolina and has been involved with marching music for her entire conscious life. Her father, John Pittman, marched drum corps in the late 70s and early 80s, and her family has been planning their vacations around drum corps shows since she was just a toddler in the early 90s.

In 2003, when she was just 12 years old, Ashley began her drum corps career as a member of the Teal Sound Colorguard. She returned to Teal Sound for the 2004 season, and then became a Cadet in 2005 at the young age of 14.

AshleyPittman_2011_angel.jpgAshley was a member of The Cadets for eight years until she aged out as a colorguard captain in 2012. She won two DCI World Championships with the corps and was a featured soloist and valued leader in her section as well as the corps as a whole.

Outside the drum corps world, Ashley attended the College of Charleston, South Carolina, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Arts Management as well as a Minor in Dance.

She recently moved to Allentown, PA to begin her role as YEA!'s Volunteer Coordinator, serving primarily in the USBands department. This fall, Ashley is responsible for staffing each of USBands Premier Events with volunteers to ultimately enhance the experience of student performers, audience members, band directors and even show staff and adjudicators.

"I'm so happy to be a part of YEA! because I am pursuing my passion for the arts in a different role than I ever have before," she said. "While studying Arts Management, I realized that one of my favorite parts of being involved in the performing arts is sharing the experience with others, especially youth. This season, I - along with my army of volunteers - get to enhance the experience students have at our USBands shows. I'm so excited to work with our volunteers and start my my career in the arts."

The entire team here at Youth Education in the Arts is thrilled to have Ashley onboard!

There are many ways to help out at a band show. If you'd like to volunteer at a USBands event this fall, please contact Ashley at ashley@yea.org or 610-821-0345 ext. 124.
