In a twist on the traditional announcing of results, the Awards Ceremonies at the 2013 USBands National Championships to be held at MetLife Stadium on Sat., Nov. 9 will have a new location on the MetLife Central Stage near the main entrance to the magnificent venue.nationals-logo_print-01[1].jpeg

Relocating the Award Ceremonies to MetLife Central enables USBands to conduct additional ceremonies throughout the day, shortening the day for some bands and to adequately recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of the talented students in their final USBands performance of the year.

Award Ceremonies will be held at:
2 p.m. - Group 3 Open
5 p.m. - Group 4 Open
9:30 p.m. - Group 3 A
11 p.m. - Group 6 A & Festival

In announcing this new format for Awards, USBands Director Justin Heimbecker said, “By moving the Awards Ceremony away from the competition field, we can create a more intimate, pep-rally-type atmosphere and allow the performances to continue simultaneously inside the stadium.”

Team USBands is currently working closely with the MetLife Stadium officials and band directors, drum majors and student leaders to make sure that everyone clearly understands this format change.

“After doing Awards the same way for 25 years, we need to be 100-percent certain that everyone is aware of the change,” Heimbecker added. “But, most importantly, we want to create a special atmosphere for students and parents to have a memorable experience they can cherish for years to come.”

Check out our first run of a fresh take on Awards on Sat., Nov. 2 at MetLife Central, and get excited for an improved version this weekend!
