DCI & DCA Corps Create Holiday Event July 6

Independence Day celebration returns to Philly's PPL Park this summer

On July 6, magnificent PPL Park in Chester, Pa. will host the return of a tradition, as DCI and DCA corps perform on the same field on the same day in celebration of Independence Day weekend and the drum corps activity.

Cadets2 will host the DCA portion of the show, featuring World Championship Finalists the Bushwackers, Fusion Core, Carolina Gold and the Windsor Regiment.

Later that evening, five of DCI’s World Championship Finalists will take the field, as The Cadets host the defending-champion Carolina Crown, Bluecoats, Boston Crusaders and Spirit of Atlanta for the final east-coast event of the early season.

History and tradition remain the themes of the July 6 event, as alumni from every drum corps generation are invited to the Second-Annual Drum Corps Alumni Reception in PPL Park's luxurious club suite before the action begins on the field later in the day. Admission to the Alumni Reception is included with a ticket to the competition.

CarolinaCrown_Pit_2013.jpg“The Cadets and Cadets2 are honored to co-host their first event together by welcoming corps from the ranks of both DCI and DCA for our fans," said Sean King, Director of Marketing for Youth Education in the Arts and The Cadets. "In the tradition of the great showcases of the past, like ‘The Dream’ and ‘Hershey Spectacular,’ we look to build an annual tradition of great drum corps performances from across the activity."

PPL Park is the home to Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union and has hosted the 2012 MLS All-Star Game and several NCAA Championships in its brief, four-year history. The facility is conveniently located just a mile off of I-95 at the foot of the Commodore Barry Bridge, just minutes south of the Philadelphia Airport, and is a perfect venue for drum corps, with comfortable amenities and perfect sight-lines and acoustics.

"And for fans who were blown away by the acoustics and amenities at PPL Park last year, we couldn’t be happier to return to the amazing venue again this year… with free parking!" King added.BostonCrusaders_2013_snaredrum.jpg
