The U to Host Marching Music Series Event

Music in Motion announces its third of four fall events

Late last week, Music in Motion - a non-profit organization formed by the Bluecoats, Blue Devils, The Cadets, Carolina Crown, The Cavaliers, Phantom Regiment and Santa Clara Vanguard - announced the Marching Music Series: Several high-profile marching band events that will be held across the country in the fall of 2014.

Marching Music Series events will feature the highest level of adjudication, excellent customer service, and venues and event management beyond reproach.

So far, the C. H. Collins Athletic Complex in Denton, Texas has been named the host of the first Marching Music Series event on Oct. 11, while Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md. will showcase Mid-Atlantic bands on Nov. 1.

Today, Music in Motion proudly announces that the University of Utah's Rice-Eccles Olympic Stadium in Salt Lake City will host the Marching Music Series on Oct. 18.

"Rice-Eccles Stadium is one of the most impressive collegiate venues in the nation," said USBands Director Justin Heimbecker. "Built to accomodate the 2002 Winter Olympics, it will provide an incredible opportunity for western bands to showcase their talents while receiving world-class feedback from an equally impressive panel of adjudicators."

Like all four of this year's Marching Music Series events, this will be a 30-band preliminary competition followed by a same-day finals competition that will feature 15 of the bands that performed earlier in the day. Awards will be given in six separate competitive classes in the prelims, while the evening show will be a 15-band, all-class event with one level of awards.

Registration for the four premier events of the Marching Music Series is now open! Directors may sign up at
