YEAllentown! Moves to Scenic West Park for June 12 Concert

Historic Band Shell Just Blocks from J. Birney Crum Stadium to Host Event

The programs of Youth Education in the Arts (YEA!) will take to the stage under the stars on Thursday, June 12 as the 2014 Cadets and Cadets2 make their public debut, joined by Xcape Dance Company and the Designated Hitters in the Lehigh Valley’s largest free youth music concert.

YEAllentown! will take place in and around the band shell at historic West Park in Allentown, Pa.

You read it right - this will be a FREE event this year, although donations are always welcome and encouraged. VIP tickets, which include access to a pre-event reception and a “reserved seat” will be $50 and give guests a chance to mingle with staff, students and other fans of YEA! before the event.

The entire Allentown community is invited to bring lawn chairs and a blanket to sit out and enjoy a special evening of fantastic musical and dance performances.

“After hosting YEAllentown! at Miller Symphony Hall for the past several years, we thought it was time to take the act outdoors," said Sean King, YEA!'s Director of Marketing. "The West Park stage will be able to accomodate all of our 500 performers and provide our audience with an exciting, early-summer experience."

King continued, "Allentown is known for its wonderful park system, and West Park is a diamond among the group, located a few just blocks east of J. Birney Crum Stadium where so much musical history has occurred. We are fortunate to have so many terrific venues available to us in Allentown, and we welcome our friends in the community and throughout the drum corps activity to join us under the stars on June 12!”

YEAllentown! is the exclusive annual event for YEA! to showcase all of its programs at the same place at the same time. The 10-time World Champion Cadets will premier their 2014 program, Promise: An American Portrait, while Cadets2 will make their first in-uniform appearance of the year, presenting Our Favorite Things2. From the organization's dance and pageantry programs, both The Cadets and Cadets2 color guards will perform, as well as the nearly 200 dancers of the Xcape Dance Companies. YEA!'s Designated Hitters, the official drumline Lehigh Valley IronPigs, will also make a special appearance.
