USBands Indoor Championships Recap

USBands capped off its most successful indoor season to date on Sun., April 6 at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River, N.J.

Over the past five years, USBands Indoor has grown into what it is today, and it continues to bring in more participants ranging from the elementary level to some of the top programs in the Northeast.

Thanks to all participating units, adjudicators, staff members and volunteers who made the 2014 USBands Indoor Championships a huge success!

The color guards kicked off the day starting with the Elementary and Middle School divisions.

The High School units then took the floor with Fort Lee HS leading off the Scholastic Novice Class. A number of Independent guards joined the Championship line-up this year as well.

Guard after guard, the performances stretched the range of emotion and captivated the audience. By the time the 3A class started, the arena was full of performers watching some of the more advanced groups who performed. You could feel the excitement in the arena rise with every rifle catch, split leap and flag toss!

A full Olympic style awards ceremony wrapped up the season for our color guard groups, and sent most of them home by 4 p.m - except for those who stayed to enjoy the drumline action!

Over the coming weeks, additional congratulations will be in order for several color guard teams that will be promoted to a higher class during the off season.

The second half of the day started with two first time competitors in the middle school concert and standstill divisions. These young performers are the future of programs who competed later in the evening. From there, the remainder of the Concert and Standstill teams entertained as the evening progressed. By the time things got moving, and the Marching Scholastic A groups were ready, the seats in the arena began to fill up completely for the second time that day.

The Marching 2A division showcased some of the most intense rivalries of the day, unprecedented level of competition. After ten 2A teams, most performers had made their way back to the arena to catch watch and cheer on Old Bridge HS.

The night wrapped up with Cadets Winter Percussion, who brought the crowd to their feet in their final performance before they head to WGI Finals in Dayton, OH this week.

Several other drum lines will extend their season by a week and we wish you the best of luck - Fair Lawn HS, Westhill HS, Old Bridge HS & Cadets Winter Percussion
