Play in the First USBands Honors Concert Band

Temple University Band Director to guest conduct on May 30

Team USBands is pleased to announce that Dr. Emily Threinen, Director of Bands at Temple University's Boyer College of Music & Dance, will be the guest conductor of the 2014 USBands Honors Concert Band at the Inaugural Eastern Concert Band Festival on May 30.

After a day of festival performances by middle and high school ensembles, the final time slot of the evening will feature the USBands Honors Concert Ensemble, giving students the opportunity to perform on the same stage as the Philadephia Orchestra under an acclaimed conductor and music educator.

Dr. Threinen has programmed excellent literature by Gustav Holst, John Mackey, John Phillip Sousa, Eric Whitacre and Ralph Vaughn Williams. Participating students will get a truly great experience, as this is one of the best opprtunities USBands has ever been able to offer.

"This Kimmel event keeps getting better and better," said Larry Markiewicz who is the primary organizer for the inaugural May 30 event. "The future trajectory of YEA! and USBands is now upon us, and the future is indeed very bright!"
